A Few Fun Awards!

I have gotten several awards over the past few months and for whatever reason, I haven’t taken the time to “accept” them until now. I’m a horrible bloggy friend, I know! I promise to try to be better from here on out!

The first award ~ The Love Ya Award ~ is from my best bloggy friend, Mrs. Soup. We’ve bonded over our shared love of life in the Pacific Northwest, our history of dance, our love of books, and too many other similarities we’ve discovered to list here. If you haven’t visited her adorable blog yet, get on over there and say hi. She is fabulous, and she has the cutest little daughter who she posts pictures of on a daily basis!

The “Love Ya” Award states: These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award.

Mrs. Soup {I know it’s cheesy to give the award back to the one who awarded it, but I can’t help it. I love Mrs. Soup!}

Mrs. Soup also gave me this award:

I’m suppose to list 5 obsessions I have and then tag 5 others.

1. My beautiful little puppy, Daisy. Yes, I know she has four legs and a tail, but I adore her just about as much as I would a child. I didn’t think it was possible to love an animal this much, especially one who can be such a handful! Last week, she actually peed on the living room floor in protest when I refused to share my ice cream cone with her!

2. Ribbon. This comes as no surprise to anyone who reads my blog regularly. I LOVE ribbon, and have a little bit of a problem when it comes to purchasing it. I can’t stop. Boxes of beautiful ribbon in new colors and patterns arrive at our house several times a week. I try to pretend that I don’t know WHY these companies keep sending me ribbon, but Nate stopped falling for that long ago. At least I have a fabulous selection for garter~making!

3. Growing my garter business. I have dreams of one day making garters and other wedding accessories full~time. I would love to be my own boss and support myself by doing something I love. Garters are almost always on my mind ~ I am constantly thinking of new ideas for garters and ways I can increase my sales as I inch closer and closer to earning a decent living from my little business.

4. My iPod. I have it with me at all times, and panic if I temporarily misplace it. Life at work is pretty lonely for me ~ I am on the opposite end of the floor as the rest of my department and don’t get a lot of human interaction throughout the day. To combat this, I listen to audiobooks while I work. I haven’t worked a day without my iPod in four years, and have even driven home to get it after discovering that it didn’t make its way back into my purse after being used at home. The idea of sitting in my quiet little office with no kind voice reading to me from my iPod makes me shutter!

5. Getting married. I am OBSESSED with tying the knot. Probably because I am rapidly approaching 30 and still have a ringless left hand. And I’m sure working on wedding garters every day and attending multiple weddings a year with Nate while he DJ’s doesn’t help. I cannot wait to make my own wedding preparations, to have my dad walk me down the aisle, and to start wedded life with the man of my dreams.

I would like to give this award to:

Tina @ Bitter Sweet Moments

JenJen @ Tatertots and Jello

Becca @ The Texas Darlings

J.J. @ I'd Rather Be Laughing

JennyKate @ JennyKate's Spot

I still have one more award {this one is from the lovely Miss Tina @ Bitter Sweet Moments} to accept and pass on, but I am holding off on that one until next week.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

Someone Thinks I Made a Splash ~ An Award from Vivienne!

Vivienne at The V Spot just gave me the Splash award!

This means she thinks my blog is alluring, amusing, bewitching, impressive, and/or inspiring! Crazy, isn't it?!? Of course I am incredibly flattered! And excited to pass the award other bloggers who I in turn am allured, amused, bewitched, impressed, and inspired by!

First off, I would like to return the award to Vivienne, whose blog I love reading on a daily basis. Viv is hilarious, blunt, and has an amazing way with words. Her tales of life with four boys and a husband are always entertaining. If you haven't checked out her blog, be sure to do so soon ~ you're missing out!

I would also like to give the Splash Award to:

JennyKate @ JennyKate's Spot

Andrea @ My Chihuahua Bites!

Shawn @ Seriously

JenJen @ Tatertots and Jello

Have a wonderful Thursday ~ the weekend is almost here!

My First Award!

Rhonda at Down Memory Lane , who I have gotten to know through Kasey’s Friend Makin’ Mondays has passed along the Honest Scrap Award to me! I’m so excited and honored ~ this is my first award! The requirements are that I share ten things about myself and then pass on the award to other bloggers I would like to get to know better.

So here are my ten things!

1. I love love love having everything (particularly my garter supplies) organized. I am not, however, fabulous at keeping things organized. I can get lazy about putting things back where they belong after I use them (especially if it’s late and I’m tired), and I am horrible about organizing supplies after I’ve purchased them ~ I bet I have no less than four bags full of supplies from JoAnn’s sitting in my craft room at the moment, just waiting to be put away. I’m my own little oxymoron ~ someone who loves to have things organized but is awful at keeping them that way!

2. I am a certified carb junkie. I love pasta, bread, crackers, and pretty much any other carb that is totally unhealthy and guaranteed to go straight to my tush.

3. My biggest pet peeve is dirty dishes left in the sink. In my experience, the person who leaves the dishes in the sink usually has no intention of putting them in the dishwasher, and I hate having to clean up someone else’s stanky dishes!

4. I sometimes regret my decision to get my MBA. I have a lot of student loan debt and don’t know that I learned a lot during graduate school… I chose to go to the University of Phoenix Online, which was the best choice at the time because the program was designed for students who were working full~time, but it was so intensive and most of the stuff I learned fell out of my head as soon as the class was over. Plus I’m not sure that Accounting is really the right field for me, but it’s hard to venture out into another field after spending so much time and money getting my degree for this one.

5. I am secretly a drama queen. I thrive on drama. I think that explains why I stayed in a bad relationship for so long ~ the drama kept things interesting and exciting. (But I am happy to report that I love being in a stable, relatively drama~free relationship ~ it was worth giving up the drama to get rid of all the stress and heartache that accompanies relationship drama.)

6. My favorite meal is grilled chicken and rice covered with a white sauce from the Betty Crocker Cookbook. We add corn to the sauce and it is to die for. Without a doubt, the best comfort food of all time! Here is the recipe for the white sauce if anyone wants it ~ it would taste amazing on just about anything!

Ingredients:
1 tablespoon of margarine
2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1/8 teaspoon of pepper
1 cup skim milk

Heat margarine in 1 1/2 qt. nonstick saucepan over low heat. Stir in flour, salt and pepper. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until margarine is absorbed; remove from heat. Gradually stir in milk. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute. Makes about 1 cup.

Be careful not to turn your back on the sauce ~ it will burn so quickly and is a nightmare to get off the bottom of your pans! (I speak from experience!)

7. More than anything, I want Nate and I to start going to church together. But he grew up Catholic and I was raised Baptist, and I’m scared we won’t ever be able to find a church we will both like and will be able to call our church home.

8. I love all things pink. Pink has been my favorite color since I was little ~ my bedroom walls were even painted pink. When we get married, my wedding colors will of course be pink and green (I love the two together!) despite the fact that my best friend has red hair ~ she has kindly offered to wear my favorite color even though there are many others that would complement her hair much better. (She truly is the best friend ever!)

9. I am a big fan of both the Harry Potter and the Twilight series. I listen to audiobooks on my Ipod at work, and am almost always listening to a Harry Potter or Twilight book. I have probably listened to all of the Harry Potter books 20-25 times ~ I just can’t get enough of them!

10. I was a wrestling cheerleader in high school. It was so much fun, and I have so many great memories from the three wrestling seasons I cheered for.

I would like to pass this award along to the following people who I would like to get to know better:

Megan @ Little Bella Bean

Amanda @ Ups-A-Daisy

Kristina P. @ Pupsipher Predilections

Amanda @ Imperfectly Beautiful
